TITLE:

What lies beyond?

STARTING POINT:

There was once a time when most of the world was a mystery. No one knew what they might find if they went exploring. Now we think we know everything, but there is still mystery all around us. In this festival we will take on the imaginations of intrepid adventurers and go on a journey of discovery. Asking: what amazing wonders exist, right beneath our noses?

OUT AND ABOUT:

A visit to a life-size model of the ship that the famous Chinese explorer Zheng used on his voyages around the world.

ENSEMBLE INFORMATION:

All ensembles will be general devising.  This is a BONSAI festival.

IMPORTANT DATES:

Visiting schools
Registration opens 17th February 2017.
Registration closes 3rd March 2017.

 

Please note:
We advise that you have your group confirmed and all information collected prior to 17th February 2017.

Travel forms are due from visiting schools and ISTA artists by 17th March 2017.

All schools will need to be at Nanjing International School by 5:00pm on Thursday 13th April 2017; and may leave the school after the close at 5:00pm on Sunday. Please arrange international travel accordingly.

 

ISTA artists
ISTA artists will need to arrive on Wednesday 12th April 2017 in time for an evening meal and are advised to depart Sunday evening if possible.

 

Please note that the Rep will need to arrive a day earlier and so should be in Nanjing by the evening of Tuesday 11th April.

START AND END TIMES:

The festival begins at 9:00am on Friday 14th April 2017 and finishes at 5:00pm on Sunday 16th April 2017.

FINANCIAL:

Students
Registration fees
£206.00 per student (this includes the cost of an ISTA t-shirt).

Surcharges
£10.00 for airport transfers; £10.00 for the out and about.

TOTAL CHARGE FOR STUDENTS
£226.00 per student.

 

Teachers/chaperones
Registration fees
£34.00 (catering fees).

Surcharges
£10.00 for airport transfers; £10.00 for the out and about; £12.00 for an ISTA t-shirt.

TOTAL CHARGE FOR TEACHERS/CHAPERONES
£66.00 per teacher/chaperone.

 

Please note:
1) A £500.00 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit will be invoiced upon booking.
2) A cancellation fee of £500.00 will be incurred for any school who cancels within 12 weeks of the festival. This is additional to the deposit.
3) There is a late registration fee of £150.00 per school booking for schools who register after 3rd March 2017.

TRAVEL & VISAS:

Please note that the hotel reservation form will be required when applying for your visa. A letter of invitation from the host school will be sent out via email.

 

Travel/visas

All participants

are responsible for organising their own travel and visas for this festival;

will fly into Nanjing Lukou International Airport;

Or arrive at Nanjing South Train Station or Nanjing Train Station;

should allow approximately 60 minutes to travel from the airport to the school/hotel, 50 minutes from the train station.


For schools

All visiting schools will be transferred by private bus.


For ISTA artists

ISTA artists will be transferred by private car.


During the festival

Students will travel in daily on buses provided by the school.

 

Visiting teachers and ISTA artists will be transported to and from the hotel by private bus.


For the out and about

Buses will be provided for the cultural experience.

Visiting teachers/chaperones will need to book themselves into the hotel for the nights of 13th, 14th and 15th April 2017.

 

Visiting students
Students will stay with host families.
There will be no charge for accommodation.
Housing will be offered for three nights from 13th April 2017.

 

ISTA artists
ISTA artists need to book single room accommodation at the Novotal for the nights of 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th April 2017.  The booking form can be found on the Downloads tab of this web page.  ISTA will either pay for the room or reimburse the artist as soon as Jo receives the booking reference.

 

ISTA will also pay for a room for the Rep for the night of Tuesday April 11th.

 


Artists will be responsible for any miscellaneous costs during their stay at the hotel.
