Americas/Europe Virtual IB training - DP Theatre Category 1 & 2 (combined)

About the training
This is a combined Category 1 & 2 event. During the workshop participants will engage in content and receive one certificate specific to their registered Category training.
Workshop goals
Category 1
This workshop is recommended for teachers of Theatre from schools which have taken the decision to apply to offer the Diploma programme or new or recently appointed Theatre teachers from IB World Schools.
Category 2
This workshop is recommended for experienced Theatre teachers from IB World Schools. Teachers must have either attended a previous Category 1 workshop in Theatre OR have been teaching DP Theatre for a number of years.
Target audience
This workshop is recommended for teachers of Theatre from schools which have taken the decision to apply to offer the Diploma programme or new or recently appointed Theatre teachers from IB World Schools.
All teachers of the NEW DP Theatre course beginning in 2022 for cohorts graduating in May/November 2024.
Master class & master class leader
All participants will take part in one virtual master class.

About your workshop leaders
Sherri Sutton – Category 1 & 2 combined
Sherri d. Sutton began teaching the IB DP Theatre Programme over 23 years ago. She has met some of the best theatre practitioners and educators from around the world thanks to ISTA. Sherri became an IB examiner in 2002, and over time, she has been a Principle Examiner and the IB DP Theatre Chief Examiner. Sherri was part of the last two curriculum revision teams and sought to ensure students’ practical work could be assessed. She has worn many hats for the IB but one of her favourite roles has been as an IB/ISTA Teacher Workshop Leader. Sherri is a professional comic, director/devisor, and screenwriter.
Aileen Gonsalves – Specialist workshop leader (Meisner)
Aileen Gonsalves is the founder of Butterfly Theatre Collective who specialise in site responsive, immersive, and accessible Shakespeare in extraordinary caves and castles across Europe.She developed and teaches across UK leading drama schools and globally runs masterclasses The Gonsalves Method – Meisner in Application enables truthful, authentic, responsive acting. Rooted in her 20 years Meisner experience.
Her book launched recently – Shakespeare and Meisner for Bloomsbury/Arden co-written with Dr Tracy Irish which outlines the Gonsalves Method. She is the Artistic Director of the Immersive Acting School.

Workshop timings
This is a virtual workshop.
Sessions will take place for 5 hours per day on the 3 days of the workshop.
All sessions will take place on Zoom and will be synchronous, interactive and collaborative in approach.
ISTA will provide the links and passwords to all participants shortly before the workshop.
Sessions will take place at the following times (EST time):
18th November 2022: 9:00am – 2:00pm (5 hours)
19th November 2022: 9:00am – 2:00pm (5 hours)
20th November 2022: 9:00am – 2:00pm (5 hours)

ISTA Members – GBP £600
Non ISTA Members – GBP £650

Any bookings or amendments taken in the six weeks prior to the workshop will incur an additional GBP £50 late booking/amendment surcharge, subject to availability.
Once booked and invoiced the registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable as per event terms and conditions.

Current DP Theatre Course Guide (ask your IB coordinator to provide if you do not have it) .
Any materials shared with you prior to the workshop such as the workbook.
A notebook and pencil are always useful.
A quiet room to work and space to move about.
