Bespoke ISTA Festivals

September 1 - May 31, 2024

ISTA is proud to be able to offer schools the opportunity to create a fully bespoke festival that completely fits the needs, goals and curriculum of their school.

About our bespoke festivals

What is a bespoke festival?

ISTA is proud to be able to offer schools the opportunity to create a fully bespoke festival that completely fits the needs, goals and curriculums of their school.

These entirely tailor made experiences can be any length, with a focus of your choice, complete with an all star team of internationally minded artists who are experts in their field. The festivals can be delivered in person, virtually or hybrid.

We appreciate that times are still hard and that travel is still limited for many schools – this is the perfect opportunity to bring the magic of ISTA into your school regardless of your schools’ circumstances.

4 Reasons to create a bespoke festival

  1. Tailor-made experience – Any length of experience or focus of your choice – delivered however you desire.
  2. Easy scheduling – You decide when the festival takes place giving you the opportunity to link it to other school events or initiatives.
  3. Interdisciplinary opportunities – Allows for creative learning across subjects and age groups.
  4. Work closely with experienced professionals – Work in ensembles led by imaginative and experienced, professional international ISTA artists.

What others have done

The bespoke nature of these festival models is that you can tell us what you are looking for and we can develop a programme to fit your needs. Take a look at some examples of what others have approached us with and what ISTA was able to provide.

We wanted…

A festival to bring the Yew Chung foundation schools together to take part in a three day theatre festival for all Yew Chung students.

ISTA gave us…

A hybrid festival that, despite the challenges of COVID, was hosted across five school hubs, simultaneously through a three day festival event. A mixed approach of face to face ensembles with virtual workshops in skills like Bollywood dancing, mime, mask work and more, to over 150 students across China and Hong Kong. Over three days students explored and developed their skills in drama, working together to further their understanding of the world. It brought together students and teachers to celebrate our school and the arts.

We wanted…

A festival that explored the curriculum area of climate change using arts to explore solutions around climate issues, both on a global and local platform.

ISTA gave us…

A three day festival for over 140 students from year 7 exploring the impact of climate change through the arts. Each artist brought a new and different approach to how the arts is used to explore this topic and the ensembles were created to be inclusive and safe spaces for students to explore and build on their understanding of climate change. ISTA was able to take class work we had done previously with the year group and embed it into the heart of the festival so students could really feel ownership of their work and for their peers. This culminated in a sharing of their learning on the third day to an audience.

We wanted…

A two day theatre event that explored the cultural implications of movement for people. Titled, ‘Cultural Baggage’, at this festival we want to explore whether taking cultural artefacts across borders, away from their country of origin, creates or breaks barriers to understanding.

ISTA gave us…

A brilliant artist who was able to navigate the cultural conversations into the ensembles with a visit to the Africa Museum. The work was mature and appropriate for participants who were not all drama students and they were able to build an understanding of knowledge through practical and creative ways. This intertwined well with work the students were doing in their curriculum.
