Artist biographies

Travel & Visas

All participants will fly into Brussels (Zaventem) or arrive at the Midi train station.
All schools will be met by a representative from the host school at one of the above points taken directly to Destelheide.
The journey from the airport to the venue takes approximately 45 minutes and from Midi station approximately 30 minutes.
Arrivals into Brussels must be no later than 1:00pm.
Departures must be no earlier than 4:00pm.

For schools
You are responsible for booking your own travel and securing visas for the festival.

For artists
You are responsible for booking your own flights and will work with your EC to provide all information in a timely manner.
Artist teams are launched 12 weeks prior to the festival and all flights must be booked 10 weeks prior to the festival.
You are also responsible for ensuring you have the correct visa.

Artistic information


Please note that while this festival is being produced by the International School of Brussels it is a site specific festival that will take place at the inspirational centre for youth, art and creativity – Destelheide. This is located just outside of Brussels, so for schools who wish to sightsee in Brussels as part of the festival experience – we advise that you arrive early or stay on after the festival experience itself.

Registration closes on 24th October 2019.

Please note:
Registration is early for this festival due to getting information to the centre in time.
We advise that you have your group confirmed and all information collected by 10th October 2019.
Travel information is required as part of the registration process. Please have travel details confirmed by the time the registration window opens.
You should arrive into Brussels no later than 1:00pm on Thursday 16th January. From the airport or train station schools will be transported to Destelheide.
Buses will leave Destelheide at 1:00pm on Sunday 19th January 2020 for train stations and airport.
Please arrange travel accordingly.

For artists
You need to arrive in time for an evening meal on Wednesday 15th January 2020.
You should not plan to leave the festival venue until 1:00pm on Sunday 19th January 2020.
Please arrange travel accordingly.
Travel information is due by 10th October 2019.


Finances

Students

Registration fees, including on site accommodation
Students from member schools – GBP £326.
Students from host school – GBP £275 for the first 25, thereafter GBP £326.
This includes the cost of an ISTA t-shirt, catering and accommodation.

Surcharges
Airport transfers – GBP £10.

Total cost per student
Local member schools – GBP £326.
Non-local member schools – GBP £336.
Host school – GBP £275 for the first 25, thereafter GBP £326.

Teachers/chaperones

Registration fees, including on site accommodation.
Member schools – GBP £160.
Non-member schools – GBP £212.

Surcharges
ISTA t-shirt (optional) – GBP £12.
Airport transfers – GBP £10.

Total cost per teacher/chaperone
Local member schools – GBP £172.
Non-local member schools – GBP £182.
Local non-member schools – GBP £224.
Non-local non-member schools – GBP £234.
Host school – GBP £172.

Please note:
1. A GBP £500 non refundable, non transferable deposit will be invoiced upon booking.
2. A GBP £500 cancellation fee will be invoiced to any school cancelling within 12 weeks from the start of the festival, in addition to the deposit withheld.
3. A GBP £150 late registration fee per school booking will be invoiced to schools if the registrations are received after the registration window has closed.
4. All invoices are payable within 28 days of receipt. If not, places cannot be guaranteed at the festival.


Accommodation

ISTA will book accommodation for all participants.

For schools

For teachers/chaperones
Single rooms will be be booked for the nights of the 16th, 17th and 18th January 2020.
For accommodation costs, please see ‘Finances’ above.

For students
Students will stay in shared rooms at Destelheide.
Shared rooms will be booked for 3 nights from the 16th January 2020.
Where possible students will be placed in rooms with peers from the same school.
For accommodation costs, please see ‘Finances’ above.
Schools will be invoiced at the time of registration for all accommodation costs.

For artists
Single rooms will be booked for you for 4 nights from 15th January 2020.
