At this festival we will explore the ways humans interact with spaces designed for the dead through the use of memory, ritual and reconstruction.

Out & About

The Giza Pyramid Complex to see the massive necropolis of the Pharaohs and the Islamic City of the Dead for a tour of shrines, tombs, and current habitations.

Important Information

Information for visiting schools
Registration opens 6th December 2018.
Registration closes 20th December 2018.

Please note:
We advise that you have your group confirmed and all information collected prior to 6th December 2018.
Travel information is required as part of the registration process. Please have travel details confirmed by the time the registration window closes.
Overseas schools will need to plan to be at CAC by 5:00pm on Wednesday 13th February 2019. Local schools will attend from Thursday morning onwards. All participants may leave the school after the close of the festival at 5:00pm on Saturday 16th February 2019.

ISTA artists
ISTA artists will need to arrive on Tuesday 12th February 2019 in time for an eveing meal and may leave the host school from 5:30pm on Saturday 16th February 2019.
Artist travel information is required by 20th January 2019.


 

Finances

Students
Registration fees
GBP £206 per student.
This includes the cost of an ISTA t-shirt.

Surcharges
GBP £10 airport transfers.
GBP £10 out and about.

Total per student
GBP £226 members, GBP £216 host.

Teachers/chaperones
GBP £50 – visiting member schools, towards catering etc.
GBP £97 – visiting non-member schools registration fee (includes meals at school).
GBP £10 airport transfers.
GBP £10 out and about.

GBP £12 ISTA t-shirt (optional).

Total per teacher/chaperone
GBP £82 members.
GBP £129 non-members.

Please note:
1. A GBP £500 non-refundable, non-transferrable deposit will be invoiced upon booking.
2. A GBP £500 cancellation fee will be invoiced to any school cancelling within 12 weeks from the start of the festival, in addition to the deposit withheld.
3. A GBP £150 late registration fee per school booking will be invoiced to schools if the registrations are received after the registration window has closed.
4. All invoices are payable within 28 days of receipt. If not, places cannot be guaranteed at the festival.


 

Travel & Visas

All overseas participants will fly into Cairo International Airport.
The journey from the airport to the school takes approximately 45 minutes.

Visiting schools
All schools are responsible for booking their own travel and visas for the festival.
All schools will be met by a representative from the host school and taken to the school by bus.

ISTA artists
ISTA artists are responsible for booking their own flights to the festival and will use our travel agency for this. Artist teams will be activated 12 weeks prior to the festival and your EC will talk you through the process for booking flights at the time of activation.
Artists are also responsible for ensuring they have the necessary visa to enter Egypt.
Artists will be met at the airport by a representative from the host school and taken to the hotel by school van.

All teachers/chaperones and ISTA artists will stay at the following hotel

The hotel has free Wi-Fi.
The room rate is GBP £90 per person per night, including breakfast.
The journey from the hotel to the school is approximately 20 minutes by private bus.

Visiting schools
Teachers/chaperones
Visiting teachers/chaperones will be booked into single rooms at the hotel for the nights of the 13th, 14th and 15th February 2019.
Visiting schools will be responsible for paying for rooms upon arrival. We can make provision for schools to pay hotel bills ahead of time.

Students
Overseas students will stay with host families.
There will be no charge for accommodation.
Housing will be offered for the nights of the 13th, 14th and 15th February 2019.
Local students will travel daily.

ISTA artists
Artists will be booked into the hotel for the nights of the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th February 2019.
An additional night will be booked for the Rep who will arrive on the 11th February 2019.
Artists will be responsible for any miscellaneous costs during their stay at the hotel.

Meals

Visiting schools
Breakfast – for visiting teachers at the hotel, for overseas visiting students with host families; for local students at home.
Lunches daily provided by the host school.
Dinner provided on days 1 and 2 of the festival.

ISTA artists
All meals will be provided by the host school.
