Workshop description
It was June when we first gathered to talk about the Black Lives Matter movement. Since then we have been continuing the conversation and taking action. Join us to find out what we’ve been doing and how we can continue to come together as a community to ensure that diversity, equity and inclusion is a constant part of our work and your classroom. Malina (former international school teacher and currently theatre practitioner in Toronto) has been driving much of this work and working with colleagues, artists and alumni to explore and implement change, from the smallest steps to more far reaching goals.

Everyone.

I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, but have been lucky to have lived in Uzbekistan, Tanzania, Ukraine and India, working as a drama teacher while exploring new places and fascinating cultures. I completed a BFA in Acting and a B.Ed in Drama and English, and then worked as a professional stage manager for various Canadian theatre companies before my international adventures began.

I have been an IB DP Theatre teacher and examiner for many years but as an artist I see myself as a writer, director, performer, teacher, learner and social justice advocate. Theatre allows me to explore and experiment in all of these roles.
