ISTA present...

Going green with Tom Scott (online 1 evening Asia)

April 15, 2021

Together towards tomorrow (TTT) sessions are free and open to everyone to attend. They are monthly online connection conversations where people can meet, reconnect and learn together as well as help us shape the future of ISTA.

This event takes place at 11:00am-12:00pm [UK time].

While scheduled, primarily, as an evening session for teachers in Asia, theatre teachers globally are invited to attend.

About the workshop

Going green

Workshop description
Over the past year or so we’ve been starting to think about how ISTA can do more for the environment. We are very aware that to do what we do, we have to fly artists around the world and that for schools travel is also commonplace.
But this isn’t where the issue stops. We can do more in all aspects of our work including reducing single use plastics and sourcing things sustainably.
We want to work with students, teachers and artists to make a better impact on the planet through day to day measures, but also as an integral part of our events.
It requires us all to do our part and we’d love to get your ideas and solutions.

About your workshop leader

Tom Scott
I’m in my 6th year working for ISTA full time. I’m the Event Manager and I’m responsible for overseeing the quality and safety standards for all ISTA events as well as coordinating work on event programming, artist in residency and risk management. I live in Falmouth, United Kingdom with my partner Logan and Working Cocker Spaniel, Leo.

I love talking to people and hearing their stories – human connection is so powerful and I love nothing more than chatting to artists, teachers and students from all corners of the world and sharing life with them. I’m also a massive fan of sea swimming and flying amongst other things.

As a Rep and full time member of staff it gives me a great perspective on an event and they are certainly some of the highlights to my ISTA year, especially working virtually. It’s incredible to see everyone have such life-changing and memorable experiences and to be a part of creating that and making those memories is wonderful.
