Hong Kong FRAME

March 13 - March 15, 2025

Join us in Hong Kong for the launch of a brand new ISTA experience! This exciting new FRAME (Film Research and Methods Exploratorium) event is a three-day film-making experience designed especially for current IB DP Film students. It promises to be an engaging and enriching experience that will inspire creativity, enhance collaborative filmmaking skills, and ignite a long-lasting passion for the DP Film course.

For additional details about the event, please see below.

Event Manager: Keriann O’Rourke

What is FRAME?

FRAME events are immersive workshops tailored for current IB DP film students.Hosted in schools or other educational settings, FRAME events are characterised by their focus on igniting inquiry and passion for filmmaking through collective exercises, experiments, and projects. Under the guidance of four specialist IB film practitioners, participants are encouraged to collectively explore their creativity, experiment with new ideas, and develop their own unique short films in collaboration with an ISTA Artistic Director.

FRAME activities include:

  • Creating and developing original short films that effectively use critical film vocabulary, visual storytelling, and cultural context.
  • Developing production skills across various filmmaking roles.
  • Workshopping ideas, film texts, and starting points in a collaborative environment.
  • Sharing and critiquing peer work in a supportive setting.
  • Engaging in a range of creative filmmaking experiments and exercises.

During these three-day in-person events, students from various schools come together to deepen their understanding of film, develop practical skills, and collaborate with peers and professionals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

FRAME events provide a platform for students to explore the essentials of the DP Film course, express their artistic visions, collaborate with peers from different contexts, and receive constructive feedback from IB specialists.
