Festival title: Born to Be Wild

Festival focus: This festival will explore our relationship with the natural world, and how and why we might protect and promote green and wild spaces.

Global challenge and area of learning: Born to Be Wild

Cultural Experience: Visiting local areas of environmental interest, Hampstead Heath, Primrose Hill and a preservation project in the Kings’ Cross neighbourhood.

Participants should not plan to leave the school until after 5:15pm Sunday, 28th May 2023.

The host has arranged a theatre trip for Saturday 27th to Regents Park open air theatre to see ‘Once on this Island’ if you would prefer not to attend the show, please let the EC know when booking your places.

Please note

All registration fees and surcharges will be invoiced once the registration window has closed.

A non refundable, non-transferable deposit will be sent with the booking confirmation; this amount will be deducted from your final invoice.

The deposit will be as follows:
For bookings of 1 – 10 learners GBP £500.
For bookings of 11 – 15 learners GBP £750.
For bookings of 16 or more learners GBP £1,000.

Travel and Visas

All participants will arrive in London, United Kingdom on Thursday, 25th May 2023.

Please Note:
Participants should not plan to leave the host venue before 5:15 pm Sunday, 28th May 2023.

Some non-local organisations may choose to stay in London on Sunday evening and depart Monday morning. Please adjust hotel bookings accordingly.

By air: London Heathrow is preferred for ease of access. Gatwick, Stansted and London City may be more economical to fly into, although transportation from these smaller airports can be slightly more complicated.

By train: Major London stations include Paddington, St. Pancras International if on Eurostar. Public transportation from the train station is easy and inexpensive.Arrival information TBC

For participants
Participants are responsible for booking their own travel and securing visas for the event.

IMPORTANT: Please double check visa requirements for entering the UK as there have been changes post-Brexit.

Accommodation

This festival is a hotel stay model.

Please Note:

  • Hotels will need to be booked by visiting schools, a list of possible hotels nearby the school can be shared but the schools will need to contact and confirm the booking as soon as possible.
  • Airport/Station pick up/drop off and daily local transportation to the festival venue will not be provided for organisations choosing to book at a hotel other than the one recommended by the host.
  • ISTA and the host organisation will not take responsibility for any arrangements made between the organisation and the hotel.
  • Non-local organisations choosing to stay in London Sunday evening should adjust the hotel bookings to 4 nights instead of 3.

Hotel Information:

The suggested accommodation for the festival is The Generator Hostel. This is a large hostel in central London that can accommodate large groups. The hostel has been visited by the host school. Please note that no bookings are held for schools and ALL schools will need to contact The Generator directly to book for their student group. Prices are approximately £60.00 per night including breakfast.

For student learners
Shared rooms should be booked for 3 nights from Thursday, 25th May 2023
Hotel costs will vary during the festival dates due to the Bank Holiday weekend.

Meals

For hotel stay students and all adult chaperones

Please ensure you book breakfast at the hotel.

For all participants:

Lunch will be provided Friday, Saturday and Sunday by the host school/venue

Evening meals will be provided Friday and Saturday by the host school/venue.

If a social meal is to be part of the festival schedule for adult chaperones and ISTA artists this is costed at approximately GBP £30 per person.
