Title
Without a song or a dance, what are we?

At this festival we will explore…
… musical theatre and how it can be used to tackle and communicate important issues of identity and our place in the world.

Exploration
A tour of a working West End theatre such as Lycium (The Lion King) or Apollo (Wicked). Musical workshop in singing and dancing hosted by working artists from West End shows OR a matinee/evening performance of a West End show such as Matilda or Wicked.

Please note:
We advise that you have your group confirmed and all information collected by 24th January 2020.
Travel information is required as part of the registration process. Please have travel details confirmed by the time the registration window opens.
You should arrive in time to be at the festival venue for the 4:00pm start on Thursday 26th January 2020.
You should not plan to leave the festival venue until after 12:30pm on Sunday 29th March 2020.
Please arrange travel accordingly.

For artists
You need to arrive in time for an evening meal on Wednesday 25th March 2020.
You should not plan to leave the festival venue until after 1:00pm on Sunday 29th March 2020.
The Rep should arrive by evening on Tuesday 24th March 2020.
Please arrange travel accordingly.
Travel information is due by 16th January 2020.


Finances

Students

Registration fees
Students from member schools – GBP £216.
Students from host school – GBP £165 for the first 25, thereafter GBP £216.
This includes the cost of an ISTA t-shirt.

Surcharges
Airport transfers – GBP £10.
Excursion – GBP £10.
Theatre tickets – GBP £35.

Please note that there will be an additional surcharge for all students, to be confirmed by September, to cover the cost of transport from the hotel to the school daily.

Accommodation costs
For accommodation costs please see the hostels and hotels recommended in the accommodation section. Schools will be responsible for booking and paying for their own accommodation.

Total cost per student
Local member schools – GBP £261.
Non-local member schools – GBP £271 plus daily transport surcharge (TBC).
Host school – GBP £210 for the first 25, thereafter GBP £261.

Registration fees
Member schools – GBP £50.
Non-member schools – GBP £102.

ISTA t-shirt (optional) – GBP £12.

Total cost per teacher/chaperone
Local member schools – GBP £72.
Non-local member schools – GBP £82.
Local non-member schools – GBP £124.
Non-local non-member schools – GBP £134.
Host school – GBP £72.

Please note:
1. A GBP £500 non refundable, non transferable deposit will be invoiced upon booking.
2. A GBP £500 cancellation fee will be invoiced to any school cancelling within 12 weeks from the start of the festival, in addition to the deposit withheld.
3. A GBP £150 late registration fee per school booking will be invoiced to schools if the registrations are received after the registration window has closed.
4. All invoices are payable within 28 days of receipt. If not, places cannot be guaranteed at the festival.


Travel & Visas

All participants will fly into London Heathrow Airport. 

For schools
You are responsible for booking your own travel and securing visas for the festival.

For artists
You are responsible for booking your own flights and will work with your EC to provide all information in a timely manner.
Artist teams are launched 12 weeks prior to the festival and all flights must be booked 10 weeks prior to the festival.
You are also responsible for ensuring you have the correct visa.


Accommodation

American School in London have recommended the following 2 Palmers Lodge hostels for visiting schools.
We will be booking a hotel for ISTA artists close to the school.

Hillspring Hostel:
Room types are mostly 4 bed dorms.
Price range for students is usually GBP £16 – £22.
Price range for teachers is usually GBP £47 – £80 based on twin rooms.
Allocating teacher rooms on the same floor as students is easier at this site.
Breakfast is included.

Swiss Cottage Hostel:
Room types range from 4 – 14 bed dorms.
Price range for students is usually GBP £18 – £25
Price range for teachers is usually GBP £65 – £110 based on twin rooms.
Breakfast is GBP £4.60 per person per day.

For schools

For teachers/chaperones
Please book rooms for the nights of the 26th, 27th and 28th March 2020.

For students
Students will stay in shared rooms at the designated hotel.
Shared rooms need to be booked for 3 nights from 26th March 2020.

For local participants
No accommodation will be booked for local schools.
You are responsible for organising your own daily travel.
Breakfasts will not be provided.

For artists
Single rooms will be booked for you for 4 nights from 25th March 2020.
An additional night will be booked for the Rep who will arrive on the 24th March 2020.
You will be responsible for any miscellaneous costs during your stay.


Meals

For schools
Breakfast will be provided at the hotel or with host families.
Lunches will be provided daily (Sunday lunch not included).
Evening meals are provided at the host school.
One evening meal for teachers/chaperones will be the social meal. This is costed at approximately GBP £30 per person.

For artists
All meals are provided by the host school.
