Title
New York TaPS

TaPS goals
The TaPS experience engages young people with the philosophy of the DP Theatre course, its core components and the assessment tasks.
TaPS acts as a launchpad for students’ explorations of theatre within the context of the course; to further pursue once back in their own schools.
Working with DP Theatre students from different schools broadens perspectives, forges friendships and enhances all learning.

Master classes
All participants will take part in two master classes (MCs) focusing on a specific aspect of Theatre.
MCs for this TaPS will be confirmed by Summer 2021.

Theatre
It is hoped that all participants will attend two professional theatre performances.
As it is still unknown when Broadway will reopen please bear with us. We hope to be able to confirm the productions on offer at this TaPS by Summer 2021.

Booking is now open.
Registration opens on Thursday 26th August 2021.
Registration closes on Thursday 9th September 2021.

For artists
The artist team will be activated 6 weeks prior to the event.
Artist travel details are due 5 weeks prior to the event.

Students
Registration fees
Member schools – GBP £300.
Non member schools – GBP £335.

Surcharges
ISTA t-shirt – GBP £12.

Total cost per student
Member schools – GBP £312.
Non member schools – GBP £347.

Teachers/chaperones
Registration fees
GBP £100 (2 x theatre tickets).

Surcharges
ISTA t-shirt – GBP £12.

Total cost per teacher/chaperone
GBP £112.

Please note
All registration fees and surcharges will be invoiced once the registration window has closed.
A deposit invoice will be sent with the booking confirmation; this amount will be deducted from your final invoice.
The deposit will be as follows:
For bookings of 1 – 10 students GBP £500
For bookings of 11 – 15 students GBP £750
For bookings of 16 or more students GBP £1,000

Travel and visas


For participants
Participants are advised to arrive into New York City by evening on Wednesday 20th October 2021 and should not plan to leave the venue before 3:00pm on Saturday 23rd October 2021.

Please note:
International travel should be planned accordingly.
It is the responsibility of the schools/participants to ensure they have the appropriate visas, as required.

For artists
Artists are advised to arrive into New York City by evening on Wednesday 20th October 2021 and should not plan to leave the venue before 3:30pm on Saturday 23rd October 2021. We plan a Standing ovation session for artists following the close of the event.

Please note:
International travel should be planned accordingly.

Accommodation


For participants
All participants are responsible for booking their own accommodation in New York City for the duration of TaPS. We advise that you book hotels/hostels near the venue.

For artists
ISTA will book accommodation for ISTA artists for the nights of the 20th, 21st and 22nd October 2021.

Meals


For participants
No meals are provided as part of this event.

For artists
Artists will be provided with a per diem for meals. Breakfast will be provided at the hotel.
