Panamanian devils… cultural rituals… and a search for what lies behind a mask… not to mention carnivals and floats!
Title
Behind the mask
Starting Point
This festival focuses on tales and stories of the different Panamanian devils who have frightened and distracted the people of Panama for hundreds of years. We inquire into cultural rituals, the use of masks and how we protect ourselves from what we don’t understand or fear. How do we distract ourselves from the bad around us? What lies behind a mask?
Out & About
A visit to a carnival float and a mask maker.
