Singapore CPD Twilight - Memory learning and the child
April 18, 2018

Twilight workshops are 3-hour sessions held in the evening at a specific host school but open to any teacher, parent or student from schools in that city. This Singapore CPD Twilight is for teachers and parents who wish to know more about the impact of memory and how best to organise both home and school learning to get the most out of education for children.
Memory learning and the child
What goes on in the mind of a child and how does memory work? If we could answer these questions, the art of parenting and teaching would be easy. Sadly we don’t know it all, but what we do know will greatly help guide our children in their learning. In this session, Debra Kidd will take us through what we know about memory and how best to organise both home and school learning to get the most out of education for children. Together we will look at what are some of the myths about memory and how what we know about the brain can help us to manage behaviours. From the youngest to the adolescent we will explore what changes take place in the brain and how do those developmental stages impact on children themselves and others.
This workshop is appropriate for parents and teachers of students of all age groups.
About Debra Kidd
For 21 years Dr. Debra Kidd taught drama from early years through to high school and university. And she used drama to teach all kinds of other things too. Now she works with teachers, students and parents in schools around the world exploring how creative experiences can bring learning to life. This might involve leading through curriculum development or it might involve talking about innovative leadership practices. Debbie has written two books about education and is working on her third which celebrates the huge contribution that the arts make to our lives. She is an associate for the Royal Society of Arts and for Independent Thinking Ltd – two organisations committed to making schools more humane and creative.
