ISTA present...
Telunas Tropical Island MS
April 28 - May 1, 2018

The ISTA festival experience on a tropical island… It doesn’t get much better than this!
Title
This island’s mine
Starting Point
How do we claim and occupy land? Who has the power? How do we take control of the natural world? In The Tempest Caliban claims the island belongs to him. This festival uses the themes of The Tempest to explore questions of ownership, isolation and power. We inquire into invasion, occupation and the ways we try to take control of the natural world.
Out & About
There is no specific out and about as the entire festival takes place on an island.

Travel & Visas
This event requires travel between two countries. Participants will be travelling to Telunas Island Beach Resort in Indonesia via Singapore.
Participants will depart on the Sindo ferry from Singapore together as a festival group on the first day of the event. The ferry will be booked by ISTA and cost is included in the registration fees.
Local schools are responsible for organising their own travel to and from the Harbourfront Centre where the ferry will depart. Overseas schools are responsible for organising their own travel to and from the airport to the Bay Hotel. Schools staying at the Bay Hotel will walk over to the ferry terminal. These transportation costs are not included in the festival fees.
Schools outside Singapore will need to cover air fare to Singapore, accommodation and meals in Singapore the day before the festival, as well as transport to and from the airport.
As participants will be entering Singapore and Indonesia it is important to consider the need for a visa for both countries.
In most cases, a visa is not needed for Singapore, but it is important to check requirements.
About Singapore visas
If you have a student or teacher from a country that requires a more formal visa, then this must be organised in advance. You can check here to see which countries are eligible for visa on arrival (VOA): www.ica.gov.sg
VOA information
ISTA will be responsible for organising all VOAs only. This is organised through the ferry company and Telunas and thus we will need to collect passport information in advance.
Please ensure that all passports have six months validity from the date we return and that there is a blank page available for the visa. For more information, please visit www.indo.com/tplan/visa

Please note:
We are asking that there be a maximum of 3 chaperones per school group. It is highly recommended that at least one member of the visiting school chaperones from each school have lifeguarding qualifications as the event is located on a beach and students will be swimming during the event. Please consider this when selecting adults to accompany your group on this trip.
Visiting students
Students will stay in shared dormitory style rooms with students from other schools of the same gender at the Telunas Island Beach Resort.
We will ask each student to pick a room “buddy” ahead of time so they have one friend from the same school to stay with in the large dorm rooms.
Students will be sharing with peers from other schools as we feel this is a valuable element of the social aspect of the programme.
ISTA artists
Artists will be asked to share rooms with fellow artists (same gender).
Artists will be responsible for any miscellaneous costs during their stay at the hotel.
