Story
The Children’s Tree of Terezin

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with Highly Sprung, an inventive, provocative and acclaimed theatre company. www.highlysprungperformance.co.uk/

For the first time in our history, we have invited a professional theatre company to artistically lead an ISTA Festival. We believe our values and mission are closely aligned and that this collaboration will bring together Highly Sprung’s innovative approach with the ISTA™ Ensemble Method.

Highly Sprung create award-winning outdoor and indoor performances that tell stories of our histories and our futures through movement, gesture and dance. They put young people at the heart of their work through a genuinely open creative process, using their own physical theatre techniques in exciting and unique ways.

Highly Sprung will be the artistic director of the Terezin Memorial Upper MS/HS festival.

Visiting organisations
All organisations are responsible for booking their own travel and visas for the festival.

Please ensure you arrive in Prague (at either the airport or train station) no later than 4:00pm on Thursday 23rd March 2023.

Participants should plan to depart Prague on Monday, 27th March.

Private transport (buses) will be provided to take participants to and from Terezin. The journey from the airport/train station to Terezin will take approximately 1 hour.

For participants
Participants are responsible for booking their own travel and securing visas for the event.

Accommodation

All participants will stay in one of the following two accommodation centres:

Park Hotel Terezin
Machova 163
41155 Terezin
Czech Republic
Phone: +420 721 863 750
Host website

Hostel U sv. Štěpána
Komenského 4
41201 Litoměřice
Czech Republic
Phone: +420 416 732 077

Please note that WiFi, where available, is intermittent and unreliable. We strongly suggest teachers source a phone data plan for use in Terezin.
Please note that Terezin and Litomerice are communities of little wealth and as such the accommodation centres are basic.

Teachers/chaperones
Visiting teachers and chaperones will stay in single room accommodation at the Park Hotel or at Hostel U sv. Štěpána as above. Teachers will be placed in the same accommodation centre as their students.

Visiting teachers/chaperones will be booked into the hotel for the nights of the 23rd – 26th March 2023.

ISTA will invoice schools for all accommodation costs at the time of registration.

Students
Students will stay in shared rooms at the designated hotel with their teacher/chaperones.

Where possible students will be placed in rooms with peers from their own organisation.

Students will be booked into the hotel for the nights of the 23rd – 26th March 2023.

As the festival is a hotel model festival as opposed to homestay it is ISTA’s expectation that adult chaperones will look after students outside of scheduled festival times.

Meals

All meals will be provided for all participants from arrival into Terezin on Thursday evening through to and including breakfast on Monday morning.

There are one or two basic corner groceries (potraviny) and one or two small cafes in Terezin where participants may purchase small snacks if desired, but students should be prepared for simple Czech food at all meals.
