Hear Us Out: an approach to Verbatim theatre with Dinos Aristidou Verbatim theatre uses the recording or recounting of real life events, experiences and incidents as the starting point for making theatre. It engages theatre makers, performers and audiences with deep listening and demonstrates how theatre can be a powerful tool for activism. This workshop will look at Verbatim theatre and in particular the Hear Us Out method developed by Dinos Aristidou. This workshop is designed for all theatre teachers. Session #1 – evening Asia

The Director’s Viewpoint with
Angela David
The theories of Anne Bogart’s Viewpoints are widely known for character creation for actors. They are also useful to incorporate as a director in the rehearsal and design process to inform the entire artistic team on a unified vision. This workshop will develop an understanding of the Viewpoints and how to utilise them as a director when working with play texts. The workshop will be a healthy mix of theory and participation. Story to stage – oral storytelling in the African tradition with Awelani Moyo In this workshop we will explore storytelling in the Southern African tradition, which places particular emphasis on audience interaction, using rhythm and
