Professional development and learning workshops – January to May 2021

3 November 2020

Thanks to everyone who has supported us by attending one or more of our recent monthly PD workshops. Due to increasing demand for these workshops, from January to May 2021 we will be offering 4 sessions per workshop:
• Evening Asia
• Evening Europe
• Saturday morning/afternoon Asia
• Saturday morning USA
While our workshops are scheduled for teachers in a particular region, any teacher globally can register for any session.

We continue with our pattern of 1 x workshop per month specifically for DP Theatre teachers. For our next programme we have taken the core syllabus areas and will focus on one of these per workshop. All workshops are still geared to teachers who are working with students still at home, in a socially distanced classroom or with a hybrid model.

We then have 1 x workshop per month for any and all theatre teachers, regardless of the curricula you teach AND the exciting news is that for January, February, March and April we are broadening our reach by designing PD&L for a wider range of teachers. With this in mind we are offering a 20% discount to any member teacher who brings a colleague along to one of these workshops as well as a free place to any teacher who is able to sign up 5 colleagues.

Please do pass this information on to your professional learning coordinator as these workshops address particular challenges teachers/schools are currently facing and as such will be meeting the goals/objectives/needs of your school-wide PD programme.

The offers above refer to the following workshops:
January – Wellness with Bek Smith. A crucial topic at this time when the wellbeing of all teachers as well as the students in our care, is paramount. Increasingly schools are building wellness into the formal educational programmes for all young people so regardless of subject area or age range taught, this workshop is of interest to all faculty in your school.

February – Led by Malina Patel, this workshop will explore issues of diversity, equity and inclusion in the classroom through a deeper understanding of our own context. A topic all teachers will be keen to engage with regardless of subject or age range and high on the list for all international schools as we continue to educate ourselves and take both small and far reaching steps to ‘de-colonise’ our curriculum.

March – Creative approaches for teaching Shakespeare with Juliette O’Brien and Helen Abbott. We are hoping to have a rich and meaningful collaboration during this workshop with both English and Theatre teachers working alongside each other. Perhaps a great opportunity for your English department to sign up?

April – The art of reflection with Dinos Aristidou. This workshop is designed for all arts teachers – both visual and the performing arts. A great opportunity to sign up your arts faculty so that all students engaging in the arts can begin to place reflection at the heart of learning and how we learn.
