Looking back and looking ahead

2020 was a year that no one will forget – it changed the world in so many ways as well as the lives of all of us. This month we will look Behind the Scenes from the perspectives of a few of our members in the ISTA community and reflect on the lessons in love, learning and in the ability to continuously look forward even when given the greatest of challenges.

ISTA teacher and artist – Josh Hatt

The plan was to stay in Qingdao, China for three years. Josh and Fan’s son Otis would be born in Canada during summer holiday, they’d head home to Canada for the summer, see family and then come back to their home in Qingdao. The second dream-come-true. Like everyone else, the start of 2020 and all that came with it rendered their plans impossible. With world-wide border closures, instability and uncertainty, they concluded that the best decision for their family was to land on their feet the best they could. This would happen in Vancouver, Canada. A new city for the entire family of four. 12 months ago, they never would have imagined this outcome and new pathway. And here they are and looking forward to welcoming you and more of the ISTA magic in Vancouver!
